Virtual Design & Construction Project Engineer

Core Responsibilities

Join our commercial construction team and use BIM, digital construction technology, and visual communication to improve projects from pursuit and preconstruction through field execution and closeout. You will coordinate building systems, support field teams, solve constructability challenges, and create compelling graphics for RFQs, RFPs, and Project Interviews.

A breakdown of day-to-day activities

• Coordinate architectural, structural, civil, MEP, fire protection, and trade-contractor models; perform clash detection and track issues through resolution.
• Create field-ready coordination drawings, installation views, layout information, site-logistics plans, phasing diagrams, and 4D sequencing visuals.
• Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Engineers, designers, and trade partners to resolve constructability and installation challenges.
• Support reality capture, laser scanning, model-based layout, drones, 360-degree documentation, and comparison of installed conditions to project information.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Business Development, Preconstruction, and Operations to develop graphics, renderings, animations, and PowerPoint slides for RFQs, RFPs, shortlist interviews, and presentations.
• Translate complex logistics, phasing, occupied-site constraints, material flow, crane and hoisting plans, safety considerations, and schedule strategies into clear, client-focused visuals.
• Support BIM/VDC standards, technology adoption, project closeout, record models, and digital turnover requirements.

• Complex construction concepts become clear, compelling visuals for owners and selection committees.
• Technology supports construction operations rather than becoming an end in itself.

A strong candidate has the following skills and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, architecture, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Approximately 1–3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Ability to read construction documents and understand building systems, sequencing, and constructability.
• Working knowledge of Revit, Navisworks Manage, Autodesk Construction Cloud, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PowerPoint, and construction-management platforms.
• Strong spatial reasoning, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work in both office and active jobsite environments.
