The Adventure Cove project consists of the renovation and construction of the Zoo’s front entrance in order to add animal presence at the Zoo’s front door. The Adventure Cove Exhibit region is designed to delight and enchant zoo guests with unforgettable animal encounters, presentations and tours; wild, Jack Hanna-themed experience; a raucous colony of bellowing seals and seal lions, and much more.
Within the exhibit will be an Animals Encounter Village where zoo guests have the opportunity to have up-close viewing , interaction and engagement with the animals housed inside of the village. The up-close and personal encounters are monitored by trained zoo staff who are stationed within the Village to assist with any questions, as well as for the safety of both the guests and animals.
The enclosed structures within the exhibit total 292,000 sf and consist of a 6,200 sf sea lion holding area; a 8,400 sf water treatment facility; a 11,900 sf adventure cove building; a 1,100 sf mews (bird) building; a 1,100 sf restroom area; and a new 500 sf funnel cake building.
