The scope of this multi-year program involved major renovations of and significant upgrades to the City of Columbus’ Southerly and Jackson Pike Wastewater Treatment Plants. In addition, a large interconnector sewer allowing for the diversion of sewage flow from the Jackson Pike Plant to the Southerly Facility was also constructed as part of this program.

Specific work at the Southerly WWTP included the addition of a third wet stream with associated buildings, a new chlorination facility, new final clarifiers, a new sludge dewatering facility and headworks improvements.
At Jackson Pike, a new chlorination facility was constructed as were additional primary and final clarifiers, extensive wet stream improvements, renovated sludge dewatering, and new sludge handling and incineration facilities.
