As the home court for the University of Maryland men’s basketball team, this 17,950-seat arena and sports complex also houses the school’s athletic department offices, and an academic support and career development center for Terrapin athletes.
In addition to weight training and conditioning areas, the Comcast Center features a wrestling practice facility, locker rooms, an equipment distribution area, a sports medicine/training area, a gymnasium that can seat 1,500 people for volleyball, gymnastics and wrestling competitions, and Heritage Hall, a multipurpose room that can accommodate up to 400 people for banquets, press conferences and large meetings.
Visitors can learn about the men and women who have made Maryland Athletics great as they stroll through the Terrapin Walk of Fame and History. In addition, the Terrapin Team Store is located just off the soaring three-level atrium lobby.
Smoot Construction has been part of the construction team of Gilbane/Smoot Construction from the beginning of the project. They played a significant role in the preconstruction stage by providing estimating and constructibilty services. I look forward to the successful completion of both projects and a continued working relationship with Smoot.
