The $30.8 million project consists of the site development and construction of six (6) new housing replacement units constructed in the existing north portion of the campus compound. Each unit is identical in design and function and houses 24 juvenile youths for a total of 144 detainees.
All housing units were built utilizing steel prefabricated cells and enveloped by cold form framing. To complement the wainscot brick veneer façade, a metal siding was added. Strata geopier foundation were also needed in three of the six housing units due to poor underlying soil.
Smoot self-performed all concrete foundations and concrete flatwork and was responsible for the general trade work on the project.
